Most flowers require at least a half day of good sun to bloom well, but there are some that thrive in more shady conditions. Almost nothing will bloom if it's in deep shade all day long, but shade loving plants generally only need a little sun in the morning. Stay away from direct afternoon sun for shade loving plants, as the direct hot sun will burn them.
Some of the best shade loving flowers are Fuchsias, Begonias, Impatiens, Coleus and Lobelia. All these need to be happy is a little sun in the morning or dappled shade all day. There are other shade loving flowers as well, but these are the most common. All our flower signs say clearly how much sun the flower likes.
